Sarfatty Associates awarded Historic Annapolis Foundation ‘Community Preservation Award’
Sarfatty Associates was awarded the Community Preservation Award by the Historic Annapolis Foundation for the Starbucks Coffee Shop build-out within the Historic Inns of Annapolis Hotel owned by Remington Hotel Corporation. The award was made in recognition of Sarfatty Associates' retrofit design of the space making it compliant with all accessibility codes without distubing the historic fabric of the building's facade and interiors. Accessibility concerns required the addition of a wheelchair lift on the exterior to provide access to the cafe on the lower level. The design preserved the exposed ashlar masonry walls on the interior and replaced filled-in openings with custom windows replicating designs from the original building among other carefully crafted details to blend new and old. ∞ Link
