Ian joined Sarfatty Associates in 2005 with several years of experience, including projects for varied clientele, such as medical research laboratories, religious buildings, and educational facilities. Prior to receiving his degree, he worked summers in engineering and architectural offices, including an internship in Paris, France.

 

While at Sarfatty Associates, Ian has worked with food service, health care, commercial office and religious clients such as Hanger Clinic, Starbucks Coffee, Freshii, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, CB Richard Ellis and Agudath Israel of West Rogers Park. His projects include freestanding buildings; tenant build-outs and remodels; as well as reimaging, rebranding and adaptive reuse of existing and historically significant structures.

 

As Vice President, Ian is responsible for all phases of project development, including programming, due diligence, design, bidding, permitting, construction documents, and construction administration. Ian strives to ensure that clients are provided with projects that strike a harmonious balance among beauty, economy, function, life safety, sustainability, and accessibility.

 

Ian has a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Kansas and a Master of Arts from Iowa State University. He received his architectural license from the State of Illinois in 2011, is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), and is NCARB-certified.
