George Sarfatty, AIA

George started his career during the summer of his second year of high school as an office assistant with Skidmore Owings & Merrill in Chicago, Illinois. Since that time, George has held many positions with prominent Chicago architectural firms and McDonald’s Corporation serving as one of their staff architects.

During the years before he started his own firm, George realized that every career experience that he had at the largest firm or corporation to the smallest architectural office provided him with a new design solution, a better way to resolve a project detail or a more effective way to meet a client’s goals.

When George founded Sarfatty Associates, Ltd in 1990, he took what he had learned from his previous career experiences and designed a firm based upon the philosophy of “superior client service” and the continuation of "learning and knowledge" for his professional staff. Every employee of Sarfatty Associates, Ltd. has started at an entry level position and has grown through learning and experience into a leadership role with the firm. Sarfatty Associates has always promoted from with-in.

George received his Bachelor of Architecture Degree with High Honors from the University of Illinois in 1973. He became an Illinois Licensed Architect in 1976 and has since obtained licenses in twenty-eight other states. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the International Council of Building Officials (ICBO). He obtained his National Council of Architectural Registration Boards Certification (NCARB) in 1992.
